It seems more people are actually reading this page – so I’m a gonna try to make it a wee bit more interesting and, well, coherent.
I am:
- A mildly adventurous eater with a very low spicy/heat tolerance and a passion for cooking (also deathly allergic to sunflower seeds and all derivatives).
- A mother to a very picky toddler.
- A wife to a wonderful man who will eat pretty much anything.
- A newly minted canning enthusiast (where did this bandwagon come from and why am I on it?).
- A life long photographer struggling with the post-35mm world (I think in rectangles, why oh why are all of the aggregators wanting squares?).
- A big ole cheapskate.
I write pretty much the way I talk – which will most likely not win me any awards any time soon but oh well. While I avoid straying into the land of vulgar, I don’t exactly fall into the prim and proper category either.
Hopefully you will find something useful in what I write. My methods frequently substitute time for money, allowing me to feed friends and family with the highest quality foods I can manage without breaking the bank. Convenience is expensive to buy – so I make my own.

Would love to use your blog as one of my websites of the week. In addition to my own blog, I write for examiner.com/DC. I must say that I like your style.

It would be an HONOR to be used. Hmm, that didn’t come out exactly right did it? Well, you know what I mean.
Thanks for stopping by!

I like your site. I looked it up after you voted for my pitiful homemade potholder on thursdaynightsmackdown. It’s probably about 50 years old, but I can’t bring myself to throw it away.

I like your site. Will spend some time the next couple days to read all your posts! Just answered your question concerning a European canning “bible”, so check back to see it. Do you mind me adding you to my blogroll?

I would be honored to be on your blog-roll – how exciting! You Europeans have much cooler canning jars than we do, I am totally jealous.

Hi, I’m enjoying reading this. I appreciate your really refreshing style. We’re fairly new to blogging (and then our efforts got stymied somewhat by life events – and sudden lack of a kitchen) – so it is good now to draw inspiration from great blogs like yours! Phillipa
